"Play can make use of images without stopping to be play. That does not prevent images that are use in the context of play from being isolated as autonomous art works. And playing a game may go hand in hand with enjoying the images of adversaries and environments. There may well be gamers who play their 'art-games' in view of the relish of the images of heroes, landscapes and interiors. But that should not seduce us to herald computer games as the new art form of the electronic age - as a new kind of 'interactive theatre' or 'integrative film'."
